First Time Home Buyers

If you're buying your first property, utilize the guide below for useful ideas and advice and to learn how to avoid common mistakes.

  • Pre-qualification: Meet with a mortgage broker to determine your affordability for a house purchase

  • Pre-Approval: While determining  your budget is the first step, sellers are far more likely to work with prospective buyers who have been pre-approved.  With a pre-approval, the seller will  know right away that you are a serious buyer.

  • Create two lists of things you want and need. The first list should contain essential needs for you, for example, the number of bedrooms you need for the size of your family. The second list contains your wants like a pool, basement, etc. (things that are nice to have but are not absolutely necessary)  If you are a first-time buyer, you probably won't get everything on your wish list, nevertheless these lists will enable you to remain focused on what you really want.

  • Always work with a real estate agent, a professional, who represents you and works for you.  *The seller always pays the Realtor commissions on both the buyers and seller's side. There are a lot of details and moving parts to buying a home, all of which can be very overwhelming. This is why it is strongly recommended that you consult a professional to represent you and handle all the details. To speak with us personally, kindly contact me to discuss.
